Since the beginning of time, humans have always looked to the stars for inspiration, knowledge and guidance. Astrologers tap into that ancient tradition, and use the position of the Sun, Moon, planets and stars (the Zodiac) to provide insight and guidance to their clients.

Broadly speaking, the Zodiac is defined as a belt in the heavens which covers the positions of the Sun, Moon and planets. The Zodiac is divided into 12 familiar parts: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces.

Most people are familiar with their star sign, which is determined by your date of birth. But for an Astrologer, your star – or Sun – sign is just the beginning. Of equal and sometimes greater importance is your rising or ascending sign, calculated from the part of the Zodiac ascending over the Eastern horizon at the time of your birth.

An Astrologer also attaches considerable importance to the position of the Moon and other planets in the Solar System. Just a few short minutes can make a huge difference in terms of your personality and character. The 12 Houses in the Zodiac are equally significant: each House is linked to a sign, and represents a different area of your life. As an example, the First House is linked to Aries, and concerns the self.
